Maurizio Pollini (1942–2024) was an Italian pianist widely regarded as one of the greatest of the 20th and 21st centuries. He won the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 1960, launching a celebrated global career. He was acclaimed for his interpretations of Chopin, Beethoven, Schumann, and contemporary repertoire.
