She Past Away (TUR)

She Past Away is a Turkish dark-wave / post-punk duo consisting of Volkan Caner (vocals, guitar) and Doruk Ozturkcan (drums, synthesizers). The band combines the old and new aesthetics of synthesizer music with guitar-driven compositions and minimalist poetry sung in Turkish. She Past Away draws inspiration from the dark, sensual side of the 1980s and is often compared to The Sisters Of Mercy, The Cure, Joy Division, Clan Of Xymox, Grauzone, and DAF — yet the band transforms this legacy through their own contemporary approach.

The duo's discography begins with the EP "Kasvetli Kutlama" (Remoov, 2009) and the debut album "Belirdi Gece", released digitally in February 2012 and on vinyl at Fabrika Records in 2013. The album featuring hits "Rituel", "Ruh", and "Kasvetli Kutlama" was ranked by post-punk.com among the best albums of the 2010–2019 decade. In May 2015, the album "Narin Yalnızlık" followed; in December 2018, the band signed with Metropolis Records and reissued both albums for North America. In May 2019, the album "Disko Anksiyete" (Metropolis Records / Fabrika Records) was released; in May 2020, the remix album "X" featuring contributions from Boy Harsher, The Soft Moon, Clan of Xymox, Front 242, Lebanon Hanover, and others. In October 2020, the band released their first live studio album "Part Time Punks Session". Their latest work is the album "Mizantrop", released in February 2026.
