The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Planet Earth must be destroyed to make way for a new intergalactic highway, and earthling Arthur Dent, rescued by his friend Ford Prefect – who turns out to be an alien – embarks on an involuntary hitchhiking journey through space. Along the way, he encounters deadly Vogon poetry and, amid the constant lamenting of the depressive android Marvin, may just find the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything.

The film adapts Douglas Adams' cult classic pentalogy of the same name, with Adams himself contributing to the screenplay. This American-British production attempted to translate Adams' literary universe – filled with countless characters, worlds, and situations told with characteristic British humour – into a feature-length film. The cast includes Martin Freeman, Sam Rockwell, Zooey Deschanel, and the voice of Alan Rickman.
