The Love That Remains

The relationship between Magnus and Anna is drawing to a bittersweet end against the backdrop of Iceland's highlands. Anna finds inspiration in the vast meadows, while Magnus, a fisherman, spends much of the year at sea. Shared moments with three teenage children and a dog are filled with subtle tension.

As time passes, recriminations give way to reconciliation, and conflicts can be viewed with humor and understanding. Director Hlynur Pálmason demonstrates through his cinematic poetry how much of value can remain from love, even when it seemed everything was gone.
