Description was written before the event

Simply Simplicius, or Holy Simplicity! is a neo-Baroque adaptation of the novel "The Adventures of Simplicius Simplicissimus" by Hans Jakob Christoffel von Grimmelshausen from 1668–1669, considered the most significant prose work of the Baroque period. The dramatization is based on the Czech translation of the novel by Jaroslav Zaorálka, dramaturgy: Helena Koblischková. The production is presented by the ensemble Geisslers Hofcomoedianten. Against the backdrop of the Thirty Years' War, the story of birth, life, and death unfolds as experienced by a certain Simplicius — an ordinary boy on the battlefield of life, full of victories, defeats, and the desire to be good again. The most celebrated Baroque novel comes alive at Villa Štvanice on a dangerously steep circular slope that symbolizes the world. Direction: Petr Hašek. Choreography: Kamila Mottlová. Music: Bartoloměj Veselý, Kristina Kukrálová. Set and costumes: Veronika Traburová. Cast: Vojtěch Franců, Petr Šmíd, Kamila Mottlová, Bartoloměj Veselý, Kristina Kukrálová / Claudia Eftimiadisová. Vojtěch Franců was nominated for the Thalia Award in the alternative theatre category for his role as Simplyho. Performance duration: 120 minutes including intermission. Note: the production is suitable for children aged 15 and up and uses a smoke effect.
