Tours of Prague Castle during Open House Prague 2026
Pražský hrad, Prague
As part of the 12th edition of the Open House Prague 2026 festival on May 23–24, visitors will have access to the normally closed Romanesque floor of the Old Royal Palace at Prague Castle. The highlight of the entire floor is a soaring vaulted hall dating from the 12th century, when Prince Soběslav I founded the palace. The floor also includes remains of the original rampart from the 10th century. The site carries a powerful modern historical layer: during World War II, the Czech crown jewels were hidden here. The Romanesque floor thus represents a unique intersection of several epochs—from the early Middle Ages to dramatic moments of modern history. Entry to the buildings is free and requires no advance registration. Most buildings are open both weekend days from 10 to 18 hours. Current information about opening hours is available in the festival mobile app (Android and iOS) and on the website openhousepraha.cz/festival-2026.
