Hurvinek's Playroom was created as a symbolic gift for the 100th birthday of one of the most famous figures in Czech puppet theatre. The official opening took place on 14 May 2026 at the Museum of Puppet Cultures in Chrudim with the participation of actors and puppets from the Spejbl and Hurvinek Theatre. From 4 p.m., children could make their own birthday hat in a creative workshop, and from 5 p.m., visitors met with actors and puppets on the museum's terraces. The playroom is accessible to all museum visitors throughout 2026 (until December) and offers a playful space where children can encounter Hurvinek's world up close, discover the magic of puppets, and participate in interactive activities.

The character Hurvinek first appeared on stage on 2 May 1926 in Plzeň – Professor Josef Skupa commissioned the carving from Gustav Nosek, then a model maker at the Škoda works. The Museum of Puppet Cultures is the oldest and largest puppet museum in the Czech Republic, housed in a Renaissance building (the Mydlář House) in Chrudim. Czech puppet theatre has been part of UNESCO's world cultural heritage since 2016. The museum is open September–June Tuesday–Sunday 9 a.m.–5 p.m., July–August daily 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
