Endemites: Stories of Disappearance is a theatrical production by A Studio Rubín directed by Lucie Ferenzová, which premiered on October 5, 2024. The text was written jointly by Dagmar Fričová and German author Matthias Naumann. Starring Jana Kozubková, Tereza Hof, and Halka Třešňáková. The production is a magical-realist record of today – science fiction about human endemites on planet Earth and entities that have outlived us. Through stories of vanishing ski-lift owners, tramps, or lakes, it shows the impact of today's society's decisions on the lives of the rising generation. On the shore of a lake emerges a naked man claiming he calculated climate change two hundred years ago; a family drives to the mountains for skiing because tradition is tradition, even though there is no snow; a girl escapes into the forest and speaks with living tree stumps; a tramp conducts a dialogue with a fish in German. The production emphasizes intergenerational dialogue that takes on a magical dimension – ancestors meet their grandchildren and contemporary youth speak with future descendants. It was created as a co-production of A Studio Rubín, Kolonie z.s., and Futur II Konjunktiv, supported by the Czech-German Fund for the Future and the State Fund for Culture. Warning: the production contains nudity. Duration approximately 80 minutes.
