NEJEN MOZART! is a curated ballet evening by the Ballet of the National Theatre of Moravia-Silesia, performed at the Jiří Myron Theatre in Ostrava. The production was created to commemorate the 270th anniversary of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's birth and comprises five choreographies by four world-renowned creators. The evening's centerpiece features two iconic works by Jiří Kylián – Petite Mort and Sechs Tänze – presented in Ostrava for the first time. While Sechs Tänze ironizes social conventions with exaggeration, humor, and light absurdity, Petite Mort offers a pure, almost mythical celebration of physicality, love, and passion. Kylián created Petite Mort for the Salzburg Festival in 1991 and works with minimalist staging and fencing foils as symbols of masculine strength and transience. The program is complemented by a world premiere choreography to Mozart's Requiem by Ley Bessudo Greck – a French-Israeli choreographer who approaches the Requiem not as a funeral ritual but as a journey and transition into a new form of existence. Also featured is the famous pas de deux from the ballet Le Parc, known as the "flying kiss," choreographed by Angelin Preljocaj, and a humorous duet Ballet 102 by Eric Gauthier, combining precise ballet technique with wit and detachment. The production has received favorable reviews from both audiences and critics. The performance lasts approximately two hours (18:30–20:30). The Jiří Myron Theatre auditorium has a capacity of 615 seats and is wheelchair accessible.
