Sonnets

The theatre evening "SONNETS" is an encounter with translator and Shakespeare scholar Prof. Martin Hilský — through his translations and the spoken word. In the Czech Republic, Martin Hilský is inseparably linked with Shakespeare as his translator and interpreter. With his commentary, we will explore the rich collection of Sonnets, in which a landscape of love and beauty unfolds. The figure of the Dark Lady will be embodied by actress Barbora Munzarová. Guitarist Lukáš Sommer will appear in the role of the Fair Youth or the Poet's Rival. The programme combines Hilský's authoritative explanation of Shakespeare's sonnets with their live performance and musical accompaniment. The production comes from the repertoire of Prague's Viola Theatre.
