Veveří Castle is one of the largest and oldest castle complexes in the Czech Republic, situated on a rocky promontory above the Brno Reservoir, about 12 km northwest of Brno city centre. First mentioned in writing in 1213, the stone castle developed from the 13th century and was substantially expanded by Moravian Margrave John Henry in the 14th century. Administered by the National Heritage Institute, it offers guided tours, permanent and seasonal exhibitions, and a range of cultural events throughout the season.
