The National Theatre is the representative stage of the Czech Republic and a symbol of national identity. Its Neo-Renaissance building, known as the "Golden Chapel," was designed by architect Josef Zítek and opened in 1883. The theatre brings together four artistic ensembles — Opera, Drama, Ballet, and Laterna Magika — and manages four stages, including the Estates Theatre and the State Opera.
