Schools – Renaissance Through Our Eyes
Schwarzenberský palác, Prague
An educational programme for school groups at Schwarzenberg Palace, focused on the principles of Renaissance art. Participants explore how the development of humanistic sciences and the emphasis on human individuality were reflected in the works of Albrecht Dürer, Lucas Cranach, and Bronzino. The programme addresses questions of spatial perspective, symmetry, and the depiction of humans, space, landscape, and detail — all of which participants verify through their own creative work directly among the paintings.
Programme objectives:
- Recognize the fundamental characteristics of the Renaissance in its historical context
- Understand the content and forms of Renaissance art (depiction of humans, space, landscape, detail)
- Learn the principles of spatial perspective
- Reflect on and interpret artworks through personal experience, develop group collaboration, verbal expression, and mutual sharing
Target group: 9th grade primary school, secondary school
Duration: 90–120 minutes
