Othello - Summer Shakespeare Festival 2026

Othello is Shakespeare's tragedy about jealousy, manipulation, and the destruction of trust. The play reveals how easily slander and words in the hands of the master manipulator Iago can destroy love and human character. The production, part of the Summer Shakespeare Festival 2026, is directed by Braňo Holiček and features Robert Mikluš, Sara Sandeva, Jan Cina / Vojtěch Vodochodský, Barbora Bočková, Ivan Lupták, Marta Dancingerová and others. The performance takes place on July 29 and 30, 2026 from 20:30 at Slezskoostravský Castle in Ostrava, with an approximate duration of 2 hours 10 minutes (1 hour 20 minutes / intermission / 50 minutes), ending around 23:00. The Summer Shakespeare Festival enters its 19th edition in 2026 and runs from July 20 to August 10, 2026 with a total of twenty open-air performances. Tickets are available through the Ticketmaster network and on the website shakespearova.cz. The seating is located in the lower part (arena) of the castle; VIP zones, boxes, and zones 1–3 have seats, zone 4 has benches. Wheelchair users and holders of the ZTP/P certificate have free entry, their companion pays 50% of the ticket price; advance arrangement is required at andrej@shakespearova.cz. Performances are not cancelled in advance even with negative weather forecasts – any cancellation is decided at the earliest at the scheduled start time. It is recommended to bring warm clothing and appropriate footwear.
