Twelfth Night - Summer Shakespeare Festival 2026

Fri, 7 Aug 2026 · — Mon, 10 Aug 23:59

SLEZSKOOSTRAVSKÝ HRAD, Ostrava

Twelfth Night, or What You Will, is one of Shakespeare's most beautiful comedies – a playful celebration of love, disguise, and mistaken identity. After a shipwreck, Viola finds herself in a foreign land and decides to disguise herself as a man named Cesario. This sets off a complex web of romantic misunderstandings: she serves a Duke as a messenger of love to the Countess Olivia, but Olivia falls in love with Cesario – not realizing she is a woman. The play explores illusion, identity, and the changeability of feelings, offering the audience not only romance but also typically Shakespearean humor. Directed by Vojtěch Štěpánek, the cast includes Kamila Janovičová, Sára Erlebachová, Petr Buchta, Vladimír Polák, Kristýna Leichtová, Jiří Sedláček / Jiří Krhut, Josef Kaluža, and others. The performance lasts approximately 2 hours 20 minutes (1h15 / intermission / 1h05), begins at 20:30 and ends around 23:15. The play is performed under the open sky in the setting of Silesian Ostrava Castle as part of the 19th edition of the Summer Shakespeare Festival (July 20 – August 10, 2026). In Ostrava, Twelfth Night will be performed four times: August 7, 8, 9, and 10, 2026. The seating offers VIP zones, boxes, zones 1–4, and a gallery; the VIP zone includes refreshments in the ticket price. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.
