A sales exhibition of paintings by Jan Lepšík (born 1972), an actor and visual artist. Lepšík was introduced to painting by his father, a passionate puppeteer who created everything for the family puppet theatre, including sets. As children, his father taught him to paint in perspective, proper figure proportions, and introduced him to painters he admired. The family home was filled with reproductions of famous artworks in art books. Around the age of twenty, Lepšík began seeking out the graphic work of Josef Váchal, received his first engraving tools from his father, and started working with linocut, gradually moving on to oil painting. His graphic work focused on detail. When a 2002 flood destroyed his printing press, he sought new inspiration—which came in the form of the Slovak landscape. Following the example of painter Zbyněk Roubal, he began using a palette knife. The exhibition takes place at Salón Koncept Letná, an artist-run sales gallery and concept store in the heart of Letná (Prague 7-Bubeneč), which serves as a venue for vernissages, author readings, musical recitals, and workshops.
