Historic tram line no. 42, operated by Prague City Tourism in cooperation with the Prague Public Transport Company, runs year-round daily from approximately 10:00 to 18:00 at 30-minute intervals. The one-way circular route departs from the Dlabačov loop and passes through Pohořelec, Prague Castle, the Royal Summer Palace, Malostranská, the Faculty of Law, Charles Bridge, Dlouhá Street, Republic Square, Masaryk Station, Jindřišská, Wenceslas Square, Vodičkova, Lazarská, National Street, the National Theatre, Újezd, Tyršův House, and Malostranské Square before returning to Dlabačov. One complete circuit takes approximately 50–55 minutes. The line operates on a hop-on, hop-off principle – passengers can board and alight freely at any stop during the validity of their ticket. The route features historic cars from the Austro-Hungarian era, T1, T2, and T3 cars from the turn of the 1950s–60s, and the unique articulated K2 car from 1977. In early December 2024, the historic "mevro" tram (registration number 3098) returned to service after sixty years and extensive renovation, currently running trial journeys. A 24-hour ticket is also valid on line no. 41 and the retro bus line K. Tickets can be purchased online at the prague.eu e-shop, from the conductor on board (cash or card), at Prague City Tourism information centres, or at DPP info centres. Prague Visitor Pass holders travel free; Lítačka card holders receive a discount.
