Days of a Great Family

Days of a Great Family is an annual showcase of family-friendly events organized by the city of Ostrava. This year's seventh edition runs from May 15 to June 21, 2026, and is the most extensive in the project's history – involving over 60 organizations and offering a total of 116 diverse activities across the entire city. Every Friday, an unconventional family tour takes place in the Michal Mine area in Ostrava-Michálkovice from 9:00–17:00, with free entry and no reservation required. The programme includes creative workshops (ceramic painting, mosaics, cyanotype, photograms), community picnics, neighbourhood gatherings, sports activities (ADRA Run, Summer on Wheels cycling, family martial arts day), a fairy-tale forest, a family route "Together on Board" in Komenský Gardens, and events in libraries and senior clubs promoting intergenerational meetings. Special programmes and discounted admission will be offered by Ostrava Planetarium, Ostrava Museum, Villa Grossmann, and Ostrava Zoo. The programme also includes larger festival events such as Maker Faire Ostrava and the "FAMILY!!!" festival at Trojhalí. The entire marathon of activities will symbolically conclude on June 21 with Tátafest – a celebration of Father's Day. Most activities are free or have a nominal admission fee.
