Bats Return to Stromovka
Královská obora Stromovka, Prague
The Prague Rescue Station is hosting a public release of rehabilitated bats in the Royal Stromovka Park on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, starting at 7:30 PM. Visitors will be able to observe the rescue station's patients up close and learn more about their stories. The event will feature an information booth run by the Czech Bat Conservation Society (ČESON), where interested visitors can discover fascinating facts about bat life and see tame, disabled bats up close. Stromovka is an ideal location for bats – 11–12 species have been recorded there, including the greater bat, natterer's bat, daubenton's bat, serotine bat, noctule bat, parti-coloured bat, black bat, brown long-eared bat, common pipistrelle bat, lesser pipistrelle bat, and grey long-eared bat. The mature trees provide year-round shelter, and the water surfaces and flowering meadows offer diverse insect food. During spring and autumn migrations, bats shelter in tree cavities; summer colonies of females with young are found here, and some species even overwinter in the park. Prior registration is required for this event.
