Wuthering Heights

The theatrical production "Wuthering Heights" is a dramatization of Emily Brontë's famous novel (published under the pseudonym Ellis Bell in 1847) directed by Jakub Šmíd. The production balances on the edge of romantic obsession and dark horror — a balladic, almost horror-like work that tells of people who have devoted their lives to destructive passion. The characters of this turbulent story are connected not only by blood but also by the place where nature speaks as powerfully as the ghosts of ancient times. The central pair of Heathcliff and Catherine will be played by Matyáš Darnady and Klára Krejsová-Kuchinková — the actors undergo character development from childhood to adulthood. The screenplay was written by Jakub Šmíd and Klára Špičková based on Květa Maryskova's translation, with dramaturgy by Klára Špičková. The music was composed by David Hlaváč, the set design by Petr Vítek, and the lighting design by Karel Šimek. The premiere took place on June 14, 2025 in the Grand Theatre. The cast also includes: Libor Stach, Eliška Vocelová, Vladimír Pokorný, Petr Urban, Matyáš Greif, Zuzana Ščerbová, Zdeněk Hruška, and Nicole Tisotová. The performance takes place in the Grand Theatre of the J. K. Tyl Theatre and runs until 21:20.
