The J. K. Tyl Theatre is the largest professional theatre in the Pilsen Region, with four ensembles – opera, drama, musical and ballet. It performs on three stages: the neo-Renaissance Great Theatre building from 1902 (designed by architect Antonín Balšánek) and the New and Small Stages in the modern New Theatre opened in 2014. The theatre also hosts the annual International Theatre Festival.
