The National Theatre Brno is a multi-ensemble theatre institution active since 1884, founded by the City of Brno. It brings together opera, ballet and drama companies and operates three historic venues: Mahen Theatre, Janáček Theatre and Reduta Theatre. The Mahen Theatre was the first electrically lit theatre on the European continent; the Reduta is the oldest theatre building in Central Europe. The institution organises the international Janáček Brno festival and the Divadelní svět Brno festival.
