Schools – Life in the Gallery
Veletržní palác, Prague
100 Kč / osoba, 2 pedagogové free
An educational programme for school groups focused on how a gallery operates and how its collection is built. Participants will learn how works by Paul Gauguin, Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso, Josef Čapek and other artists came to the gallery, and will explore the exhibition halls from the First Republic era together.
In small groups, students investigate the various professions involved in running a gallery and try their hand at being a curator – creating their own exhibition project from the NGP collection and building gallery models. When selecting specific artworks, they discuss their aesthetic qualities and defend their choices.
The programme develops cultural competence and understanding of cultural heritage, while exploring the value of artworks and their potential for society.
Target group: Primary school level 1 (grades 3–5) / Duration: 90–120 minutes / Capacity: 12–30 people / Price: 100 CZK per person, 2 teachers free
