The Taming of the Shrew - Summer Shakespeare Festival 2026
SLEZSKOOSTRAVSKÝ HRAD, Ostrava
A Slovak production of Shakespeare's comedy "The Taming of the Shrew" directed by Michal Vajdička, performed in the original Slovak language. A story full of intrigues, mix-ups and surprises follows how men win women's hearts and seek common harmony. Wild Katerina, adventurous Petruchio, sweet Bianca and three resourceful suitors — all performed by actors Jakub Rybárik, Michal Ďuriš, Sarah Arató, Dominika Žiaranová, Jakub Tvrdík, Adam Jančina and others. The play is part of the 19th season of the Summer Shakespeare Festival in Ostrava, held from 20 July to 10 August 2026 under the open sky in the setting of Silesian Ostrava Castle. Performances take place on 5 and 6 August 2026 from 20:30, with an approximate duration of 1 hour 55 minutes (1h15 / intermission / 0h40), ending around 22:50. The auditorium offers VIP zones, Boxes, zones 1–4 and Gallery; the VIP zone includes refreshments in the ticket price. Tickets are available through the Ticketmaster network.
