Cultural Bridges in Europe – Czech and Moravian Nobility after 1945

The Silesian Ostrava Castle hosts a bilingual travelling exhibition "Cultural Bridges in Europe: Czech and Moravian Nobility after 1945" from 6 March to 30 August 2026 in the castle tower. The opening ceremony took place on 5 March 2026 at 17:00. The exhibition first opened in Munich in spring 2022 and has expanded over its four-year journey across Europe with additional figures. The exhibition focuses on the life stories and activities of selected personalities from Czech and Moravian nobility after World War II, including figures connected directly to the region of northern Moravia and Silesia. Visitors will learn about the fates of Ferdinand Wilczek, Marie Razumovska, Friedrich Stolberg, Johanna von Herzogenberg, Karel Schwarzenberg, Mikuláš Lobkowicz, Daisy Waldstein-Wartenberg and others. The exhibition was created by the Adalbert Stifter Association in Munich in collaboration with the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes and Post Bellum. The exhibition was supported by the Czech-German Future Fund, the Bavarian Ministry for Family, Work and Social Affairs, and the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media. The exhibition is accessible during regular castle opening hours, Tuesday to Sunday from 10 to 17, as part of regular admission.
